David and Friends

David's friend, Caleb, came over to play a couple weeks ago. Caleb had a shirt that David also had so I dressed them alike and tried to take some pictures. I think it is impossible to get two 2 year olds to sit still long enough for anyone to take a picture. (David is on the left in both pictures.)

Here is David swinging on his new swings with his friend Michael.

And playing on his slide/climber thing with Michael. They had a great time.

We had our roof redone last week. David did amazingly well sleeping through the pounding for 2 1/2 days. We were kind of stuck inside the house since the roofers kept throwing shingles & other things down and there were loose nails all over the yard. We are still collecting loose nails, but hopefully we got most of them.

Here is David trying to be like the roofers. He was pretending to fix the "roof" on the box. It was pretty cute.

Big Boy Bed

We moved David to a big boy bed a couple weeks ago. (Cars themed of course to match his room. I got it on craigslist for $20 with a mattress & sold the mattress for $15 since we already had a mattress. So net cost $5!!) The first 2 weeks were really rough once he realized he could get out of bed anytime he wanted to. He has gotten much better at staying in bed, but we still have a rough nap time or bed time every couple days.
David doesn't really have a favorite blanket or stuffed animal. He likes to sleep with his small hard metal and plastic cars. The other night we put him to bed and out of the 12 cars he sleeps with, he realized which 2 were missing and named them by name. Luckily we found them relatively quickly. If he doesn't stay in bed, though, he loses his cars. I think this is the most severe punishment for him. He is so attached to his cars.
He also rarely goes to sleep without his Cars slippers. I really think he has some OCD tendencies. Now when we put him to bed he says "Stay in bed & don't get out." If only he would also obey it every time.

Golf

David likes golf. Lanny is thrilled. Here are some pictures of him playing in the front yard from May.

David drives the firetruck

Saturday we went to a church fun day. They had a small petting zoo, a magician, a bounce house and a few more other fun things. Best of all for David, they had a firetruck...and the firemen let David "drive" the firetruck. He has been talking about it ever since. He had such a good time. I will try to post some more pictures tomorrow.

Catching up

Sorry I have not updated this in awhile. Our computer was down for quite awhile and we have been busy keeping up with life. I will try to catch up in order.

Here is David "helping" Lanny work in the front yard.
For Easter we took David to our friend's church for their Easter egg hunt. David did a great job (better than we expected) of picking up eggs and putting them in his bucket.

Here he is listening to the instructions... picking up eggs...

and just being cute. :)

David and Cameron running around the tree.

We went to South Carolina for Lanny's cousin Chris & Allison's wedding in April. David and his cousin Madi watched Cars on our portable DVD player during the rehearsal. Lanny performed the ceremony (his first) and did a great job.

The day after the wedding we took David to the hotel pool with his cousins. They had the best time.

These pictures were taken in our front yard this week. Here is David with 2 of his favorite cars (Lightning McQueen and Chick Hicks from the movie Cars.) (Sorry the picture is sideways.)

David wanted to pose by the tree. He likes to have his picture taken now.

David is learning so many new words each day. He loves the Disney movie Cars and anything to do with it. We are working on planning his 2nd birthday party (with a Cars theme of course) for next month. I can't believe he is almost 2!! He is growing up so fast. He knows his ABC's very well and can count to 10 (although sometimes he skips 6 and 7.)

I'm a big kid now!!

So, David got a potty for Christmas. We have been sitting on it now and then, but nothing has happened...until today!! After what was supposed to be David's nap (although no sleeping actually took place) David wanted to sit on the potty. Not his little potty, but the big potty. So, I thought, let me give him some juice and see what he does. He sat on there for quite awhile while I read him reading many many books (Once Upon a Potty, The T Book, All Aboard the Potty Train and Mimi's Toes.) I figured as long as he was content to sit and read books I would let him sit there. So after quite a few books, he actually went!! I was so excited and shocked!!

Tonight a gave him a bath. After the bath he said he wanted to sit on the potty again. So I let him and we read The T Book (which actually has nothing to do with the potty at all, but is one in a series of alphabet books.) He actually went again!! Twice in one day for his first time can't be a bad thing!! I know it will take some time, but it looks like we are on the right road.
I know there are no pictures to go with this post. (You are probably all thankful for that.)

I will try to get more pictures up of David soon. Our computer crashed a couple weeks ago, but luckily we were able to rescue all the pictures off of it. They are all now backed up on a separate hard drive.

David's room

So David has gotten really into the book Cars (the Disney / Pixar movie). He loves the book. He actually sits for long periods of time if we read him that book. (He really likes to read.) So I decided to redo his room from Classic Winnie the Pooh to Cars. Here are some pictures.
I also have some wall stickers, I just need to figure out where to put them.
