Halloween Pictures

David was Lightning McQueen for Halloween (of course.) We took him to a Kidgits event at the mall in the morning and he refused to wear his costume so Lanny and I took turns carrying it around. The event was very crowded and in a small space. David did make a jack-o-lantern with Mr. Potato Head parts and win a free kids meal from Chick-Fil-A. We ate lunch at Chick-Fil-A and took David home for a nap. At night we took him to the fire department for their Halloween event. David has been really into firetrucks lately. I thought they were going to have the firetrucks out for the kids to see, but they had actually moved the firetrucks out to the front of the building and set up tables inside for different businesses and political candidates to set pass out candy (and advertising.) David did a great job waiting in line and holding his basket up for people to put candy in it.
He was all decked out in McQueen paraphernalia (hat, shirt, costume, shoes, basket and I believe he even had on McQueen underwear.)

Bruester's Ice Cream was there giving out free small ice cream cones. David really enjoyed his.
Afterwards Lanny did take him out front to see the firetrucks since he had been so good.
We went home, visited a couple neighbors houses, and then let David have his first real tastes of candy. He really likes Skittles!!

Hayride, Petting zoo, & Pumpkin Patch

I took David to a pumkin patch, hayride, and petting zoo today in Weddington with his friend Michael and Michael's mom, Elaine. They had a maze of hay bales that David enjoyed playing in.
Here is David on the hayride. He really liked the tractors that pulled the covered wagon.David feeding the animals at the petting zoo. David giving his cheesy smile for the camera.

David being silly.

Pumpkin Patch & Carving

Sunday after church we went to a pumpkin patch (actually it was a fruit & veggie stand that was also selling pumpkins.) Here are some pictures of David with the pumpkins.

We bought a big pumpkin and Lanny carved it with a little help from David.

Our finished Jack O' Lantern!!

David has been kind of obsessed with Mickey Mouse ever since we went to Disney last month so we thought he would enjoy this design. I'd like to say I designed it myself, but I found the template online.

Renessiance Festival

We took David to the Renaissance festival about a week ago. We had really good weather - not too sunny, but no rain either.
He REALLY enjoyed looking at the elephant. He kept wanting to go back to look at the elephant again and again. He really wanted to ride it, but we were afraid he would freak out (like he did when we took him to ride Thomas the Train a few weeks ago) and hated to spend so much money for him to throw a fit. We promised him that next year he can ride the elephant. I hope there is an elephant there next year because he has a really good memory. They had a petting zoo and David enjoyed petting the sheep and looking at the different animals.
Although you can't see it in the picture, David and I are crossing a "bridge." David has been fascinated with bridges ever since we got him the Thomas the Train and the Big, Big Bridge book. He also calls all bridges "big, big bridge." David wanted to ride the butterfly ride. Lanny was glad he stayed away from the pink chair.
Here David and I are riding on the swing together.

Trip to Florida / Disney

David and I went to Florida at the end of September to visit my parents and grandmother. I figured since I was no longer working and found a super deal on airline tickets that I just couldn't pass up ($108 total for both of us to fly round trip to Orlando) we would take a little vacation to Florida.
We mostly hung out at my parents house so , but we did manage to go shopping and take David to Disney.
I really wanted David to see Lightning McQueen and Mater (from Cars) since we missed them last time and actually only found out they were even there a few weeks after we got back. It was a great plan except for the loud noises of the revving engines. David was so scared. He just clung to me and cried. We tried to go back later in the day, but he was still scared. Maybe next time.

David thought the funniest thing was watching people get squirted with water. He just stood here and laughed every time the water would squirt.

Here is David in front of the dump truck. He actually did stand still and pose, but my camera didn't cooperate and he took off before I could get the posed shot.

David and his grandma in front of Honey I Shrunk the kids playground. It was so hot and David refused to go down the slides by himself which meant he wanted me to go down with him.
In the afternoon we went to the Magic Kingdom. We rode the train which David really enjoyed. We visited Mickey & Minnie's houses. David loved the pumpkins in front of the houses. David was also tall enough to ride the kiddie roller coaster. We got to sit up in the front for his first roller coaster ride. I was nervous about how he would do, but he did just fine. (I got to ride next to him, which may have helped.)

We also rode the Buzz Light year ride (twice) and the people mover ride (which David called the "Blue Train.") I personally think this is about the most boring ride at Disney, but David just loved it. After that we stopped for smoothies. David drank about half of mine. He was getting tired though after such a big day and only a 45 minute nap.

We stopped at the bathrooms and when we came out it was pouring rain!! We waited for a good long while for the rain to subside (David fell asleep) and the line for the monorail to go down. Then we headed home. David did so good. He's such a trooper.
Back at grandma and grandpa's he enjoyed playing the piano and "dancing" (running in circles) around the piano.

He's so fast!!

David eating Spaghetti

Here are some pictures from September of David eating spaghetti. He really likes spaghetti, although I think more ends up on his face than in his stomach. The second picture is of him doing his "one eye" (other wise known as winking.) For some reason he thinks he needs to contort his whole face just to get his one eye closed. I asked David to close his eyes for something last month and he said, "No eyes off. Eyes on." So cute!!

4th of July, yeah I know it's October...

We went to Lanny's family lakehouse in SC for 4th of July like we do every year. David really enjoyed playing with his cousins and swimming in the lake. He did not enjoy his ride on the jet ski very much though. (I think he cried the entire time.) Family picture.
David looking at bubbles on the patio.

Here is David relaxing after a long morning of swimming. Here's David dancing with his cousin Kati Mac.

And here he is right before he did his first somersault all on his own. It kinda surprised him.
